WHO IS A FASHION DESIGNER?
A Fashion Designer is one who plans, designs, creates, and adds aesthetics to clothing including accessories.
Fashion design is influenced by both cultural and social behaviours of people in a particular region and has varied over time.
Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories to suit the consumers anticipated changing taste and some designers have a short amount of time to bring a garment onto the market, so they have to be well-equipped knowledge-wise to meet up with the quick pace demand by the consumers.
WHAT ROLE DOES A FASHION DESIGNER PLAY
Fashion designers sketch their ideas on paper, while others drape fabric on a dress form. They work in different ways to bring their creativity to reality.
When a designer is completely satisfied with the fit of the toile (or muslin), he or she will consult a professional pattern maker, who then makes the prototype version of the garment either manually by drafting out the patterns on paper or with the aid of a computer-aided design program CAD.
The pattern maker's job is very technical and precise. The fit of the finished garment depends on their accuracy.
The Final garment sample is then sewn and tested on a model or a dress form to sure that the garment style and fit are the same as it was initially designed.
